What can be better than the New Year’s resolutions? To lose weight, to quit smoking, to start jogging in the mornings and etc.? The better thing is to take pity on yourself, to look at the dullness and a bunch of snow outside of the window and to continue on procrastinating, pretending that me in the New Year and me now are two completely different people, and they are not friends yet! So we have shamelessly abandoned our favorite blog, forgetting our New Year’s promises “to work hard and to post every week!”. But spring has come and our unscrupulous hearts did melt down with the snow. So guys, we are back again and this time we will stay here! So better watch out!

And we’re going to begin this year on “Chernaja Kurica” with traveling through magical and delightfully beautiful Scandinavia.

Что может быть лучше новогодних обещаний самому себе? Похудеть, перестать курить, начать бегать по утрам и тому подобное? Это пожалеть себя, посмотреть на серость и кучу снега за окном и продолжить прокрастинация, сделав вид,  что Я в Новый Год и Я сейчас – это два разных человека, и они пока не дружат! Так и мы самым бессовестным образом забросили наш любимый блог, забыв новогодние обещания «трудиться в поте лица и выкладывать посты каждую неделю»! Но наступила весна и вместе со снегом оттаяли и наши бессовестные сердца. Друзья, мы возвращаемся вновь и теперь уже никуда не пропадем! Так что будьте на чеку!

И начнем мы этот год на «Черной курице», с путешествия по волшебной и упоительно красивой Скандинавии.

The first city that we are going to visit is Stockholm. Sweden’s capital has truly royal scale, majestic beauty and stubborn northern character. There can be pretty snowy even in March, quite windy and rather cold, but it’s more than compensated by warmth and coziness that are being painstakingly created by all the inhabitants of Stockholm. You are unlikely to find a street there, where you wouldn’t smell buns with cinnamon, ginger biscuits, nosey coffee or freshly baked bread (I bet that your stomach is already pleasantly rumbling!). So feel free to go in any pastry shop or café to enjoy your meal. Vegetarians and vegans also have what to eat in Stockholm! This week Daria will dedicate a post to this important issue!))

Первый город, который мы посетим – Стокгольм. Столица Швеции отличается по-настоящему королевским размахом, величественной красотой и упрямым северным характером. Здесь бывает очень снежно даже в марте, весьма ветрено и довольно холодно, но все это с лихвой окупается той теплотой, тем уютом, который кропотливо создается всеми жителями Стокгольма. Вы вряд ли найдете здесь улочку, где бы не пахло сдобой с корицей, имбирным печеньем, ароматным кофе и свежим хлебом (спорим, что у вас уже приятно заурчало в животе!). Так что смело заходите в любую кондитерскую или кафе и наслаждайтесь. Вегетарианцам и веганам то же есть чем полакомиться в Стокгольме! As for the cultural program we do wholeheartedly encourage you to visit the museum island Djurgården. Technically, this “island” is connected with the land, so you can easily get there by the public transport or by foot.

Что касается культурной программы, что от души советуем вам посетить остров музеев Дьюргорден. Технически этот «остров» соединен с сушей, так что добраться туда можно спокойно на общественном транспорте или прогуляться пешком.

Just start with Junibacken, the museum of probably the most famous Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren. The uniqueness of it is that you don’t have to walk by foot from one exhibit to another – you’ll be taken for a ride through the most famous fairy tales in a sort of gondola, very similar to the skiing ones. Pippi Longstocking, Karlsson, Emil from Lönneberg – they all will be waiting for you at the museum!
A little tip: make sure to try the buffet soup of the day there (that is something magical).

Начните с Юнибакена, музея, пожалуй, самой известной шведской писательницы Астрид Лингрен. Уникальность его в том, что вам не придется ходить самим от экспоната к экспонату – вас провезут сквозь самые знаменитые ее сказки в кабинке, похожей на горнолыжные. Пеппи Длинный Чулок, Карлсон, Эмиль из Леннеберге – все они будут ждать вас в музее! Небольшой совет: в буфете обязательно попробуйте суп дня (это что-то волшебное).

Nearby there is “Vasa”, a museum for fans of the ships and brutal northern seas. In general, “Vasa” is the name of the only extant ship of the XVII century. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately for us, that ship sunk when it was coming out of the harbor.

Рядом расположен музей «Васа» для любителей кораблей и суровых северных морей. Вообще «Васа» – это название единственно сохранившегося до наших дней корабля XVII века. К сожалению, а, может, и к счастью для нас, корабль этот потонул, едва выйдя из гавани.

If you visit Stockholm in summer, make sure to go to the Skansen – the oldest open-air ethnographic museum.

For those of you, who isn’t partial to shopping, Stockholm is a paradise. Not only is it the “homeland” of H&M, Monki, Weekday, Cheap Monday and many other high-street brands of clothes (and the variety out there, believe me, is really wider and better than in other countries), but the Swedes are quite famous all over the world for their very delicate taste in fashion. So don’t skip past the designer shops. Our choice: Acne Studios, Eytys (oh, what sneakers are there!) and Fillipa K (to whom almost all Swedish bloggers have made a declaration of love).

Мало того, что это «родина» H&M, Monki, Weekday, Cheap Monday и множества других доступных марок одежды (и выбор там, поверьте, реально больше и лучше, чем в других странах), так еще шведы, действительно, славятся на весь мир очень тонким вкусом. Так что не пропускайте мимо дизайнерские магазины. Наш выбор: Acne Studios, Eytys (боже, какие там кроссовки!) и Fillipa K (которой в любви признаются чуть ли не все шведские блогеры).

What do you have to get in Stockholm? Viking attributes (costumes, figurines, helmets with horns), traditional Swedish cookies in the tin boxes, homemade jam, spices for cooking Glog, knitted sweaters and mittens and famous painted Dalecarlian horse!

Что стоит привезти из Стокгольма: атрибуты викингов (костюмы, статуэтки, шлемы с рогами), традиционное шведское печенье в жестяных коробочках, домашнее варенье, специи для приготовления Глёга, вязаные свитеры и варежки, знаменитую расписную Далекарлийскую лошадку!

• Wednesday: will play with some faux fur coat
• Friday: will walk around in wide office pants and leopard coat
• Saturday: cooking the cinnamon buns (Kanelbullar)
