If for some reason you still haven’t got by 13th December an appropriate Christmas mood, then, we hope at least, that this post will certainly create it for you! What could be better than hot mulled wine or ginger tea with cinnamon, apples in caramel, licorice candies, minz pies and steaming muffins accompanied by Christmas songs? That’s right – all those things at a Christmas market!

Что может быть лучше горячего глинтвейна или имбирного чая с корицей, яблок в карамели, лакричных леденцов, пряников и дымящихся пышек под аккомпанемент новогодних песен? Правильно – все это только на рождественском рынке!

Moscow. We pass somehow always by Moscow in our posts. But this is because we want to talk about our capital in more detail a little bit later. Promised. As for the New Year’s fairs, recently Moscow has been up there with European cities and, honestly, it does strike with its sizes. In fact, the whole city center is a huge market. Somewhere the Christmas toys are sold, somewhere – the homemade jams, somewhere – the dried herbs. Just go out on Pushkin Square and walk around!

Москва. Мы как-то всегда обходим стороной Москву в наших постах. Но это потому, что про нашу столицу мы хотим рассказать более подробно и обстоятельно чуть позже. Обещаем. Что касается новогодних ярмарок, то с недавних пор Москва не уступает европейским городам и, честное слово, поражает их масштабами. Фактически весь центр города – это один огромный рынок. Где-то продаются новогодние игрушки, где-то – домашнее варенье, а где-то – сушеные травы. Просто выходите на Пушкинской площади и гуляйте!

Berlin. The most untypical German city, where you would hardly find the “gingerbread” houses, has prepared many different Christmas fairs. But we advise you to visit in the German capital a real flea market at Mauerpark. It opens up on Sundays, and there you can buy everything from delicious honey with pepper to leopard faux fur coat. And pay attention to the stand with stunning holographic bags.

Берлин. Самый нетипичный город Германии, где вы с трудом найдете пряничные домишки, приготовил много разнообразных рождественских ярмарок. Но мы советуем вам посетить в столице Германии самый настоящий блошиный рынок Мауэрпарк. Работает он по воскресеньям, и купить там можно все: от вкуснейшего меда с перцем до леопардовой шубы из искусственного меха. И еще обратите внимание на стенд с потрясающими голографическими сумками.

Nuremberg. One of the most beautiful and fabulous Christmas markets in the world is located in the Bavarian town – Nuremberg. The fair is called Christkindlesmarkt, which means “market of the infant Jesus”. Every year in Nuremberg, townspeople choose a young local girl for the role of the symbol of the fair – Child Christ. According to tradition, this girl will open the Christmas market. The fair opens at the end of November and works till the 24th Dec. Be sure to try the famous Nürnberger Lebkuchen (gingerbread), roasted almonds and baked apples. As a gift you can buy wooden ornaments for the Christmas tree, German porcelain candle houses and figurines in the form of angels.

Нюрнберг. Одна из самых красивых и сказочных рождественских ярмарок в мире расположена в баварском городке Нюрнберг. Ярмарка называется Christkindlesmarkt, что переводится как “рынок младенца Христа”. Каждый год в Нюрнберге выбирают молодую местную девушку на роль символа ярмарки – дитя-Христа. Согласно традиции эта девушка открывает рождественский базар. Ярмарка открывается в конце ноября и работает до 24 декабря. Обязательно попробуйте знаменитые пряники Nürnberger Lebkuchen, жареный миндаль и запеченные яблоки. В качестве сувениров можно приобрести деревянные украшения на ёлку ручной работы, традиционные светильники в форме немецких домиков и фигурки в форме ангелов. 

San Francisco. Immerse yourself into the atmosphere of Victorian London of the 19th century, visiting the “Great Dickens Christmas Fair”! The Christmas market takes place in a huge pavilion of the Cow Palace, where you can meet literary characters from Charles Dickens’s books and historical characters of that epoch. Dickens walks through the fair-carnival too! This is not just a shopping center, it’s a true celebration with transformation and the spirit of Christmas. At the fair you can eat out and also try a rich assortment of wines and sparkling drinks. In addition, the fair you can buy various Victorian jewelry, reproductions of paintings and musical instruments. In the barbershop, you can even have a hair dressed in the spirit of the 19th century. Christmas carnival is open from 19 November to 18 December, every weekend.

Сан-Франциско. Окунитесь в атмосферу Викторианского Лондона 19 века, посетив “Рождественскую Диккенсовскую ярмарку”! Рождественский базар проходит в огромном павильоне Cow Palace, где можно встретить литературных героев из книг Чарльза Диккенса и исторических персонажей той эпохи. И сам Диккенс прогуливается по ярмарке-карнавалу! Это не просто торговые ряды, а настоящий праздник с перевоплощениями и духом рождества. На ярмарке можно вкусно покушать, а также попробовать богатый ассортимент вин и игристых напитков. Кроме того, на ярмарке можно приобрести различные викторианские украшения, репродукции картин и музыкальные инструменты. А в парикмахерской даже можно сделать себе прическу в духе 19 века. Рождественский карнавал можно посетить с 19 ноября по 18 декабря, каждые выходные.
